Class Concert

I just want to share video clips of Aya playing the piano while practicing for her performance in their class concert. It’s still a good two weeks away, but she has already memorized the notes by heart. I took her video so we can watch it together and see her mistakes. It’s also a pretty good way to evaluate her performance so we can correct errors and see how else we can improve it. Well, I’m not a piano expert, so I just try to give suggestions based on what they learned in class so far. Maybe the piano experts among you could give suggestions and comments? 😉

Without further ado, here are the videos I’ve uploaded to YouTube:

See the second piece here:

It’s amazes me to think that just last year, she didn’t even know how to play the piano. I really am so proud of her. (sniff)

Bow! From our little virtuoso in the making. 😉

  1. Wow! She looks very professional and serious playing the piano–I remember the other video you uploaded sometime back when she was playing and dancing. 😉 Kudos to Aya!

  2. Wala akong masabi kundi BRAVISSIMO!!!

    Gumagaling na si Aya ha!

I remember the first video when she first started and I could see the big improvement. And less body movements ha =)

In time, Aya will go places in the world of music!

  3. Hi Kathy, ang galing naman ni Aya. My only son Pio is also tinkering with the piano often and we are planning of getting him a piano tutor. I’ll let him see this video. Congrats to Aya. Btw, my sister pala is in Kobe na, taking her masteral at Kobe University. She’s enjoying her stay there.

  4. Kathy,

Encourage her to practice everyday… she will get better and better and before you knw it, stage mom ka na. haha.

one of my sons plays the piano by ear and mastered “smoke on the water” by age 5. lol he’s now taking piano lessons and had his 1st recital this year. He played pachelbel’s canon in d, beethoven’s moonlight sonata and symphony no. 5 without sheet music during the recital. he’s more of a rock/pop pianist than a classical one though. lol

  5. Oh, she’s so cute Kathy. I was watching this with my 9-year old. When I said she’s only five years old, he said, oh she’s better than me. He doesn’t even play the piano. 🙂 Well, my niece was teaching him how to play Three Blind Mice on our keyboard over the summer and he’s now forgotten it.

But, I think Aya’s good. And I like the bow at the end. 🙂

  6. Gypsy, Thanks! Although she looked rather serious in those videos, the truth is that she really does enjoy herself while learning and playing the piano. What a relief, you know, because I really don’t want to nag her into doing anything she doesn’t want to do. You know how “stage mothers” are, hehe.

  7. Thanks Gina!
One of my purpose in recording her practices is to see how much she has improved. I’m glad to see that you agree that there’s definite progress!

  8. Rowena, I hope your son gets himself a piano tutor para next time yung video naman ng anak mo ang mapapanood namin. 🙂

So your sis is in Kobe already? That’s a very nice city, been there several times already. Hope you can find the opportunity to visit.

  9. Wow Bill, I didn’t know you have children! Your son is very impressive. Do you have any videos of him playing? I would LOVE to watch it, and would show it to Aya as well, baka lalong ma-inspire, hehe.

  10. Thanks Abaniko. Actually I’m a frustrated piano student myself, haha. Pretty soon Aya would be the one teaching me, I guess.

  11. Thanks niceheart. I know you could relate very well because of your experience with Reggie. Isn’t it just wonderful to watch our children perform? 🙂

  12. Thanks Anna! Aya did wonderfully during their class concert, although she did make a few mistakes. Well, the more important thing is that their confidence is being built at such an early age.

  13. Thanks Leah. I’m really glad that I forced “ourselves” to take the lessons this early (parents are required to attend classes with their kids). Let’s hope she will really become a pianist someday.
