Finding the Passion to Blog

As a blogger, have you ever experienced days when there is simply no excitement to blog anymore? Have you ever felt or thought – Enough of this crap. I don’t need to do it anymore. It’s just a waste of time. Who would want to read my posts anyway?

And to paraphrase the title of one of Richard Feynman’s books: Why would anyone care about what I think?

And indeed, on the same vein, why would anyone care what I had for lunch? Why should my life be interesting to others?

I’ve mulled on these thoughts for days on end. And I realized that If I would continue blogging at all, then I must blog about ideas that I am passionate about.

Ideas that can give others a refreshing view of things.

Ideas that inspire.

Ideas that can move others to change the way they see the world, or change themselves.

Ideas that will be drive me to change for the better.

I’m not saying that these are the things that bloggers should write about. I’m just saying that this is the direction that I would like my blog to head to. Transformation will take a long process, but the time to start is NOW.

I’m passionate about my role as a parent and my work as a researcher. I’m passionate about making a difference in other people’s lives.

Enough of self-promotion. Ideas are here to stay.

  1. i agree that some people, well, almost, all people will not be interested at what we had for lunch and stuffs like that but i blog ‘cos i simply want to see the words going around in my head, in black and white (err in neon colors hehehe).

i blog to rant and rave and to hear the clicking of my keyboard, the sound simply just sends shivers down my spine hahahahaha

  2. i used to have the thought that a blogger can even blog about his inability to blog for a time being.

but then, with the main driving thoughts and ideas running in you, i think its a lot better tool to blog along.

  3. Good call.

As for me I like reading all sorts of blog entries. I like it that I am given a privilege to share in their personal stories and adventures no matter how mundane. Siguro it’s the chismosa in me.

  4. Queenbee, it’s perfectly alright to blog about anything under the sun. Rant or rave, as you said. Some people are good at it. I guess I’m not one of those people. I think I’m too concerned about “purpose and motivation” hahaha. But as they say, blogs and their owners evolve with time, let’s find whatever works best for us.

Thanks for dropping by my blog! 🙂

  5. Blogging takes a really huge amount of time…so it really got me thinking. If I were to continue using this medium, it should be for a worthy cause. Because honestly, there are hundreds of other stuffs that we can direct our efforts to. If we choose to, we can divert our creative energies into creating something good and worthwhile. 🙂

  6. Good for you, Auee! 🙂 Actually, I’m not planning to scrap personal-related posts in my blog. I just wanted to incorporate those things I mentioned in my post, as much as possible. All in an effort to make blogging a worthwhile, healthy, and passionate activity.

  7. i personally like reading blogs. its rwa and refreshing, and unrehearsed unlike reading a book or a magazine article. not all posts have to be exciting or interesting because its understandable that there are lulls in creativity and inspiration.

    just keep on blogging!

  8. i also ask the same question. m supposed to be leading the world of free market but m here blogging.

if i get burnt out blogging, i tell myself, i will only stop blogging when i have already made enough posts to compete the entire volumes of encyclopedia. until dat isn’t happening, i’ll continue to blog….

    ha!ha! dat’s my spirit

  9. Well, looks like I’ll have to scrap my latest post “What I Had For Lunch Today”. hehe. joke. Anyway, kudos to you for directing your blog towards worthy causes. For me, I do a little bit of that but I also blog about things that are just fun or things that people may find interesting, but not necessarily promoting a cause. 🙂

  10. Just keep blogging – for some reason, this phrase reminds me of Dory in Finding Nemo singing, “Just keep swimmin’, just keep swimmin.”

Thanks for the reminder, Herb. 🙂

  11. Thank goodness I’m not alone! 🙂
I admire your determination. Now that’s passion.

Thanks for dropping by Badoodles. 😀

  12. lol @ Wil

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. My sister herself reminded me that I should just loosen up and try not to “overthink” my blog. Blogging about anything fun or interesting also seems like a great idea to unwind. 🙂

  13. Mismo! Have felt that way a few times and I have been blogging for six months plus. I think most bloggers have had such moments too.

But I guess those moments give us pause to improve on our blog ideas and style … as you have just done. You’re right … we must blog for a purpose.

  14. It’s great to hear that you’ve felt that way too – it has always seemed to me as if you’ve never run out of energy and ideas when it comes to blogging, and so would never have these moments at all.

Thanks for the assurance and encouragement, anna!
